Charlotte Windell
Why are you a teacher/ trainer?
I am a trainer because being a professional dancer, I have spent years training in a physical discipline which sometimes neglects the need for knowledge of biomechanics and strength in order to improve quality of performance, and after learning about how it all really works, I knew I wanted to pass it on for anyone else in a similar place of confusion that I was as a student. It’s simple information that can empower anyone (especially women). I also love leading a room - please expect lots of ad-libbing and dance breaks if you come to my classes.
What do you teach/specialise in?
I teach our strength and endurance concepts, also specialising in dance-specific conditioning and boxing.
What do I love about exercise and fitness?
I love the routine, structure and control that can come from exercise and fitness. In a world where we have little say over other factors, making sure I’m taking care of my health and strength each week is a non-negotiable - it’s like a superpower. And being in a sport or class community like Fison can bring so many more opportunities for connection, independence and personal achievement, as I have experienced in my life as a performer and athlete, and hope to replicate for anyone who ends up in a class with me.
What is your favourite food?
I am a chocolate fiend, give me a warm brownie with vanilla ice cream any day and it’ll be gone within 30 seconds.
What music will be on if you are in the Studio?
My music is super varied but mainly a lot of 90s and noughties hits, some modern badass girly pop, and some heavy 70s disco tracks, but always infused here and there with One Direction and Harry Styles (because once a Directioner, always a Directioner).
